Find out what licences you need

Find all your business licences, registrations and permits using the Business Licence and Information Service (BLIS). This free tool makes it easy for you to find and understand your business regulatory requirements from federal, state, territory and local governments.

Information includes:
  • licences, permits and approvals you may need for your business activity
  • name, address and phone number of the issuing departments or agencies
  • fee and duration of the licence
  • forms to be completed.

BLIS is free of charge to all users.

Information provided by BLIS

The three levels of information available are:
  1. Summary - if you're planning your business and want a general review of compliance requirements (11 pages, 2-3 minutes).

  2. Overview - if you know the type of business you will operate and want basic details on licences you may need (10-20 pages, 5-10 minutes).

  3. Report - if you know how you'll operate your business, where it will be based, and are ready for licences and application forms (20+ pages, 15-30 minutes).
