Section 9 of the
SA Carers Recognition Act 2005 requires a review of the operation and effectiveness of the Act to be undertaken five years after commencement.
The review is an opportunity to think about whether the Act is achieving what was intended and to consider what is needed to strengthen the Act to better benefit carers.
The
Office for Carers conducted a review in August 2011 with guidance from an advisory committee of representatives from carer support services, SA Government departments and other sector experts.
A discussion paper and questionnaire were widely circulated, including online, and consultation sessions were undertaken with carers, bodies that represent carers, government organisations and other service providers in metropolitan and some regional areas.
A report of the review of the
SA Carers Recognition Act 2005 was developed in late 2011 and will be tabled in both houses of Parliament.
