See our
death and grief section for information about
making preparations for death and what to do
when someone dies.
There are also support services run by Aboriginal workers for Aboriginal people.
Care for those who are dying Palliative care workers provide help and support to people - and their families - who have illnesses that can't be cured. Aboriginal palliative care workers from the
Council of Aboriginal Elders of SA give advice and support to ensure the person is as comfortable and active for as long as possible.
Help with funeral costs The Aboriginal Community Funeral Plan may be able to help with funeral costs. Call them on 1800 622 924 (freecall).
You may also be able to get some help through the
Funeral Assistance Program. For more information contact your
local Families SA office or call the Funeral Assistance Program on 1300 762 577.
